Bleeding Red
Dimensions: 48" x 36"
Concept: Gun Violence in the US
Year: 2023
Prompt: Create a painting.
I experimented with different mediums to cope with another mass school shooting in the United States. Using magazines, I cut up images of machinery, children, and symbols of the U.S., collaging them on a large scale canvas. Then, I painted the skulls with acrylic paint, and made the female figures by creating a stamp. In addition I spray painted red drips over the piece to mimic blood and used butterflies to symbolize resilience.
