Women Hold
Half the Sky

Dimensions: 8" x 12"
Concept: Zine
Year: 2021

Prompt: Create an edition of a larger Zine.

This zine was created for my younger self and to inspire other Asian women. Growing up, I struggled to see my own self worth, clouded by the lack of Asian representation in the Western media. Women hold up half the sky was a quote from communist leader Mao Zedong. It was used in propaganda, but has since been reclaimed by Asian women. I wanted to highlight the strong Asian women that both inspire and paved the way for me. The first edition of Women Hold Half the Sky features female Asian American Pacific Islander graphic designers.
